131. Suitcase Skincare Series - Festival Skincare

Off to the music festivals this summer?! Might not be taking a whole suitcase but a just a little backpack... so travel sizes and individual use sachets are the best for these events. Make sure you look after your skin or it will suffer from a crazy days away. Always wash your face at night to remove makeup and face paint even if your crashing in a tent!

Cleanse:

Always cleanse twice a day. The morning keeps your skin fresh, easily absorbs products and remixes toxins excreted over night. The evening cleanse removes all the dirt, sweat, makeup, face paint, and pollution the skin has been exposed to throughout the day.

Make sure you use ph-balanced face wipes to remove daily make-up and grime without access to water. Look at ingredients to make sure wipes don't contain any alcohol as these will strip the skin.

You can make your own using bamboo wipes or cotton pads a bit of distilled water and a couple pumps of Dermalogica's PreCleanse if you want to stick with your normal products. This will help to remove waterproof make-up and and face paint. Keep them in a ziplock or little tin so they csn be flat packed to fit into a backpack.

Love a bit of glitz and glam, but if you leave it on overnight it'll block your pores, cause unwanted breakouts and leave you looking dull and blotchy... so please cleanse away the day!

Protect:

A tinted moisturiser with spf is a great two-in-one product to give your skin light coverage whilst dancing the day away.

🧴 Remember your face needs a teaspoon size amount & needs to be reapplied every two hours - this is where individual use sachets are super helpful in protecting against the sweat and sun.

👒 Always wear a hat, it will save you years of targeting pigmentation as a skincare concern - trust me, I didn't wear a hat in my younger days because I was more worried about my hair & should've been protecting my skin from harmful rays. It's taken me over a decade to clear away the layers of sun damage I caused my skin!

If it's a wet and windy festival it's important to protect the skin against the elements to prevent sensitisation. Dermalogica's Stabilizing Repair Cream can be used all over the face to help protect the skin, apply a 5p sized amount and the silky texture will melt into your skin.

☔️ Sunscreen can be appied on top if the weather isn't proving festival friendly.

Recover:

Once your epic weekend has come to an end it's important to help detox and repair the skin with a specialised professional Recovery Facial or an in-depth at home care routine is highly recommended to help reset your skin.

💦 Drink plenty of water - I'm talking 3-4 litres a day to help flush out the toxins.

🥗 Also remember eat a healthy diet with 10 fresh fruits and vegetables daily to help your body and skin recover.

🧉 I'd also recommend something to help revive your gut health after the festival food stands - all that carb loaded stodgy foods can rec havoc on your digestion which can also cause breakouts. Having a healthy micro biome in your gut is important for glowing skin.

🧖🏻‍♀️ Deep cleanse the skin with Precleanse and Active Clay Cleanser leave this on for a few minutes to let the clay purify your skin, then use a gentle but deep exfoliant like the Liquid Peelfoliant, follow with Hydration like the Circular Hydration Serum and an SOS 🆘 Masque - my favourite is the The MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque is a wow product full of vitamins to feed and nourish the skin.
