What incentivizes your team? It might be different for each team member. During quarterly reviews this is a question we always discuss. What would motivate you to reach your targets?
What motivates your therapists might be very different to your senior team and branch managers. As positions and responsibilities increase so do the incentives required to motivate the team members. For example, a month salary bonus, percentage of profitability, they’re working to run a whole business therefore incentives may be different.
There are several effective ways to incentivize your team and boost their morale.
💫 Recognition and praise:
Acknowledge your team members' hard work and achievements publicly. A simple "thank you" or highlighting their success can go a long way in motivating them.
We celebrate weekly wins in our team meetings and spotlight these monthly and quarterly. Showcasing the team’s best practise and achievements to congratulate & cheer their success maintains the momentum and enthusiasm.
💫 Rewards and incentives:
Offer rewards such as bonuses, gift cards, extra time off, education or other incentives for meeting targets and exceeding expectations.
💫 Professional development opportunities:
Provide opportunities for training, skill development, and career advancement. This shows your team that you care about their growth and development.
When targets are achieved our team are sent on advanced training of their choice to further their skill set and career progression. The course and expenses are paid for by the company to celebrate and reward the their success.
💫 Flexible work arrangements:
Offering flexibility in work hours or remote work options can be a great incentive for employees who value work-life balance.
Our team are able to choose their working days and hours to suit their family and home commitments. We revisit this during their quarterly quota meetings to ensure they’re still happy with their schedule.
💫 Team building activities:
Organize team-building exercises or social events to foster camaraderie and strengthen relationships within the team.
These can be award ceremonies, industry events, networking opportunities, learning labs and other team building events that boost morale and inspire the team to keep performing at a high level. We discuss opportunities and options as a team so that everyone can look forward to the activities.
💫 Clear goals and feedback:
Clearly communicate goals and provide constructive feedback to help your team members understand their performance and areas for improvement.
It’s important to also have a score board so the team can regularly check their status of achieving their goals. This must be simple, easily accessed and visible daily. These goals are discussed weekly at the meetings to gain feedback & share ways of adapting their strategy to fuel successful results.
💫 Employee empowerment:
Give your team members autonomy to make decisions and take ownership of their work. Feeling empowered can be a strong motivator.
Remember that every team is unique, so it's important to understand what motivates your specific team members and tailor your incentives accordingly. Experiment with different strategies and find what works best for your team.
