121. Conversations with a Skin Therapist ~ Masque Magic

Have you heard of multi-masking? This is a term for advanced skincare users. If you have several skincare masques in your bathroom cabinet, they can be used in patches on the skin to treat different concerns... multi-masking!



There are several benefits and types of face masks, we'll explain further to help you multi-mask at home:


1. Deep Cleansing:


Face masks can help to deeply cleanse the skin by unclogging pores, removing impurities, and eliminating excess oil. This can help to prevent breakouts and improve overall skin texture.


This could be used along the forehead, jawline, nose area, between the brows or on the chin.


2. Exfoliation:


Many face masks contain exfoliating ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acids or enzymes, which help to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. This can leave the skin looking brighter, smoother, and more youthful.


I love to use these masques in the shower, leave on for 3-5 minutes (great on a hair wash day!) then rinse off, serum and moisturise.


3. Hydration:


Some face masks are specifically formulated to provide intense hydration to the skin. They often contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, or honey, which can help to moisturize and nourish the skin, leaving it soft and supple.


Hydrating masques are great to use to boost hydration 3-4 times a week. They're usually gentle and thirst quenching. If you like a tipple or are a gym junkie this can be a great masque for you!


4. Skin Firming and Tightening:


Certain face masks contain ingredients like collagen, peptides, or antioxidants, which can help to improve elasticity and firmness of the skin. Regular use of these masks may help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.


We all want a youth boost, these powerhouse masques are packed with nutrients to smooth away the expression lines. Follow the recommended use on the tube, but it's usually 2-3 times a week


5. Relaxation and Stress Relief:


Applying a face mask can be a relaxing and pampering experience, providing a moment of self-care and stress relief. The process of leaving the mask on and taking the time to relax can have a positive impact on overall mental well-being.


These are often leave on masques to sleep in, combined with massage movements before bed can boost your sleep and you'll wake up refreshed and radiant!


It's important to note that the specific benefits of a face mask can vary depending on the ingredients and formulation. It's best to choose a mask that suits your skin type and addresses your specific skin concerns.
